Beginner Investor Hub, Inc. ("BIH", "we") runs the Beginner Investor Hub website, mobile app and classroom tools. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to individual learners, students using BIH through a school, parents, teachers, and staff of partner banks and credit unions.
When a school or district uses BIH, we handle student information on the school's behalf and under its direction, as described in the FERPA section below.
Account information. Name or display name, email address, and sign-in details. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store them. If you sign in with Google, Microsoft, Facebook, X or Instagram, we receive the basic profile details that provider shares.
Age information. Your date of birth or age group, so we can apply the protections for children and teens described below.
Onboarding and profile answers. Things like your state, goals, experience level, occupation and learning-style (VARK) results, used to personalize lessons.
Learning activity. Lessons and chapters started and completed, quiz and checkpoint scores, time spent learning, game scores, XP, Gold Coins, streaks and achievements.
Simulated portfolios. The trades and holdings in your practice portfolios. These use play money only.
Messages to the AI coach and written answers. Text you type into AI features, which is processed to generate a response (see "Service providers").
Bank program information. For learners in a bank-sponsored program, the sponsoring bank may provide a census tract and an income tier (low, moderate, middle or upper) so the program can be documented for the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). If it does not, we may estimate a census tract from the approximate location of your internet connection.
Payment information. If you buy a subscription, payment is handled by Stripe. We receive the status of your subscription and payments, not your full card number.
Device and usage information. Technical data such as browser type and pages visited. Security checks (Google reCAPTCHA and Firebase App Check) help us block automated abuse.
Teachers see the students enrolled in their classes: names, progress, time spent, scores and compliance status for their course.
Parents can see a child's progress only after the account is linked and parental consent has been verified for that child.
Sponsoring banks and credit unions receive program reporting for CRA purposes: total learning hours and sessions, completion rates, and breakdowns by income tier, census tract, state and service category. Their export file lists individual learning sessions with date, length, completion status, topic, state, census tract and income tier, identified only by a pseudonymous code generated with a secret key. Banks do not receive names, email addresses, grades, quiz answers, messages or any game, XP or Gold Coin data, and they cannot see who a student is.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We do not show targeted advertising to students.
We use companies that process information on our behalf, only to provide the service:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of our users, or as part of a merger or sale of the company, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred.
We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. When a date of birth at sign-up shows a user is under 13, we ask for a parent or guardian's email address and send that parent a consent notice explaining what we collect and why. The child's account stays locked — and we collect nothing further — until the parent confirms the link in that email. The link expires after 7 days. Students under 13 who use BIH through a school do so with the school's authorization, which the school gives on behalf of parents for educational use only.
We collect from children only what the learning activities need. Children's information is never used for advertising and never used to train our learning models.
A parent or guardian with a verified consent can review their child's information and manage content access in the parent dashboard, withdraw their consent (which re-locks the child's account), or ask us to permanently delete the child's data by emailing info@beginnerinvestorhub.com. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
For schools, BIH acts as a "school official" under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act: we use student education records only to provide the service the school asked for, under the school's control, and we do not re-disclose them except as the school directs or the law allows.
Schools can sign students in through their learning management system or single sign-on. Requests to review, correct or delete a student's records should go through the school, and we will help the school respond. We enter into data privacy agreements with schools and districts that require them, and we follow the student privacy laws of the states where our partner schools operate.
We study learning activity to make lessons work better. For the models that personalize teaching, we use only information from users we have confirmed are adults and who have given consent. Before that information leaves our application systems, the user ID is replaced with a one-way hashed code, and it carries only broad attributes such as age range, income range, state and income tier.
Information from users under 18, or whose age we do not know, is never used for this purpose. When an account is permanently deleted, we send an erase instruction that removes that user's hashed records from the learning system as well.
We keep account and learning information while your account is active, because it is your learning record. Schools can ask us to delete their students' records when an agreement ends.
When you ask us to delete your account, we confirm by email and complete the deletion within 30 days. We may keep a limited record of the request itself, and information we must keep by law (for example, payment records). Copies in encrypted backups expire on our normal backup schedule.
Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have additional rights to know, access, correct or delete personal information. We honor those requests and will not treat you differently for making them. Contact us using the details below.
Information is encrypted in transit and at rest on Google Cloud, access is limited to the people and services that need it, and each database is reachable only through the service responsible for it. Bank reports use pseudonymous codes rather than identities. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects you, we will notify you and any affected school as the law requires. Report security concerns to security@beginnerinvestorhub.com.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For material changes we will notify account holders by email or in the app before the change takes effect, and we will ask for consent again where the law requires it.
